Greetings!  Has been far too long between posts.

Here are a few recent works which I have completed:  Antebellum Quilt Block One designed by Barbara Brackman (see button on right side), Mini Shoofly Quilt designed by Valerie Langue of the Quilt Merchant/Journey of a Quilter blog and Windowpane designed by Kathleen Tracy, Sentimental Quilter blog February 2018 Small Quilt Challenge, respectively.

My friend, Sunny Dillingham http://gone2thebeach.blogspot.com/ sent me this beautiful bird fabric as we have both joined the Antebellum Quilt challenge.  Thank you, Sunny, for your generosity!

As you will see, the Windowpane quilt is a bit "puffy."  Used a different batting which I normally do not buy.  Somehow I acquired it and decided to use it here.  Perhaps once I wash it, the puffiness will be a bit tamer.  The Mini Shoofly was washed, giving it that crinkly antique appearance.

Been having some left wrist issues.  MRI confirmed ganglion cyst.  Hand specialist recommended wearing brace at night (helping somewhat) and physical therapy.  While I had four sessions of PT, I am not convinced this is helping.  Will more than likely have the cyst removed laprascopicly.  In the meantime, I try to limit hand stitching to shorter periods at one stretch.

Thank you for stopping by!

Blessings
Sue

Hi Everyone...

Thank you, again, for stopping by.  So behind on blogging, pics, replies to comments!

Here are some photos of a Kathy Tracy quilt which has been in progress for some months.  The quilt top is done.  Faux pas, boo boos, coping strips...but, that is ok!  I am trying to embrace "Let It Go!" Don't worry, I am not about to start singing...

Kathy Tracy Quilt pattern "Scrappy Star Quilt," from her book "Remembering Adelia."

Have a blessed day!

Hi on Wednesday

Hope all is well with you and yours

Just a few snippets tonight.  Currently working on Kathy Tracy's Scrappy Star Quilt from her book titled "Remembering Adelia."

Below is one of the completed blocks which I posted recently

For Kathy Tracy's March Challenge https://sentimentalquilter.blogspot.com/2017/03/march-winds-and-pinwheels.html, I have been busy preparing the patches for "Scrappy Pinwheels."

Today, DH and I decided to take advantage of a sunshiney day.  Drove to a favorite spot about 100 miles from home.  A town called "Lena."  DH and I camp here at  a local state park and pay a visit to the "Lena Mercantile,"  while in that area.  The Mercantile is a charming collection of antiques, odds and ends and many pleasant finds.  The Proprietress, Ruth Maedge is a gem.  We have become friends over the years.  http://www.lenamercantile.com/

Just noticed that there appears to be a reflective pond in front of the Merc; its actually the roof our our car!

In my next post, I will include pictures of a few items I purchased there and also, a small quilt I purchased at another stop on the way to Lena.

It was a good day spent with my best friend.

Oh, found an unexpected and delicious place to have lunch between the quilt shop and Lena.  Its called "Dickey's BBQ."  https://www.dickeys.com/  DH and I first tasted the wonderful beef brisket sandwhiches in Texas on the long road trip in November and December of last year.  Yum!

Blessings sent your way!
Sue

Good Sunday Evening,

Just a little news this evening.

Here is the updated block for Kathy Tracy's Mystery Quilt https://sentimentalquilter.blogspot.com/ - Step 3.  A simple addition of framework.  This portion is not on Kathy's blog yet; however, it is on FB and Yahoo.

This afternoon, DH and I took a nice drive to have a late lunch at http://whitefencefarm-il.com/.  The location is about 30 miles from here.  We had delicious fried chicken and trimmings for our meal and apple pie a la mode for dessert.  There is also a petting zoo with sweet animals.

Sending love and blessings your way...Sue

Good Wednesday Morning.

As always, hope all is well with you.

Here is the updated version of the Kathy Tracy Mystery Quilt Block https://sentimentalquilter.blogspot.com/.

The block comes together quickly -

My story cloth is still in a state of flux.  I decided to perform a redoux for February.  I love hearts and how appropriate for this month.  So, here is a snippet:

Since I hand cut the hearts, they wind up in various sizes and shapes.  That's ok - as long as they are filled with love and compassion, that is what matters most.

Sending you and yours blessings.  ðŸ’“

Good Wednesday evening...

Hope you are all well.

Unfortunately, I am still behind on the story cloth (sigh).

I did complete the second block of the Scrappy Stars Quilt (Kathy Tracy pattern).

Must learn how to take better pictures!  The fabric next to the yellow is actually gray.

In my prior post, I mentioned that I had the chance to attend Kathy Tracy's book signing and trunk show at the Quilt Merchant quilt shop in Winfield IL http://journeyofaquiltlover.blogspot.com/
Kathy's quilts are simply lovely.

The Quilt Merchant is a great shop.  The Proprietress, Val is so sweet.

That's it for today.  Another project looming in the background is a quilt my MIL began back in the 1970's.  She handpieced the blocks (all 27 of them, so, 5 across, 5 top to bottom and 2 pillows).  This is a very large quilt.  With sashings, the blocks measure about 16.5 inches square.  I decided to use the quilt as you go method as its just way too huge for me to handle on my sewing machine.  I am hoping to get this project wrapped up in time for her birthday on March 20.  More to follow.

Good Wednesday Evening...

As always, I hope all is well.  Tonight, I am sharing another project which I started a few days ago.

This is a block in progress from Kathy Tracy's book "Remembering Adelia."  The pattern, Scrappy Star Quilt.  Kathy's patterns are well detailed and easy to follow.  I have all of Kathy's books and a number of stand alone patterns.  I have also had the privilege of spending some time with Kathy during class, trunk shows, meeting along the way and dining.  She is so down-to-earth.  Love ya, Kathy!

The block is almost complete.  Not sure about you, but, I seem to have a deficit when it comes to bias blocks (entirely my goof and no reflection of quilt designers).  Just when I think I have it clinched, zap!  Rip, rip, rip.  Good thing I have one of those handy ergonomic seam rippers.

Oh, by the way, one of the great things about this pattern is that there are no set-in seams for the Lemoyne Star.  Half square triangles make this star come together without trying to get all those little intersections to get along with each other.  If I do a set-in seam, I try to do it by hand piecing.  Much easier for me to handle then on a sewing machine.

Well, I will close for now.  I'll be back on Sunday.  Hopefully, I will have an update on the story cloth.  Take care.  Blessings to all.

Good Wednesday Morning!

Today, I am showing the January 2017 quilt project from Kathy Tracy's Small Group Challenge for January 2017 sentimentalquilter.blogspot.com.  This sweet quilt is titled "Be My Little Valentine."

The only things I tweeked in this pattern were to use flannel instead of batting and, self binding rather than a separate strip of binding.

Is anyone else working on a Valentine craft?

Oh, by the way, Mr. Sunshine has appeared, albeit briefly, the past few days.  That is a good thing!

Have a blessed day.

Good Morning (almost afternoon here).  Hope you are all having a good week.  Have been a bit slow on blogging.  Slug.

In reading comments on Hunter's blog hunteronmaui.blogspot.com, I decided to join forces with Liz A imgoingtotexas.blogspot.com and Liz D gone2thebeach.blogspot.com and show my version of organized (ahem) thread:

Occasionally, I do entertain the thought of winding the threads on appropriate devices.  Then, I tell myself that I could be sewing instead of organizing.  Ha!

My story cloth is behind.  The picture below is of the first 10 days of January.  Lots to catch up on for end of November thru end of December.  It will get done, eventually.

The pic below is a small quilt I am working on from Kathy Tracy's latest book "Small and Scrappy."  A lovely book by a lovely lady.  sentimentalquilter.blogspot.com

I am also behind on the 1 year of stitches project.  Ho hum.  I might just post about it here rather than follow the rest of the group.  So me, not following all the rules.  The older I get, the more flexible (in some ways!) I become.  Often, I like to dip my toe in the pool, but, find myself admiring the others from a distance.  Its suppose to be fun, enjoyable and fulfilling, right?

Anyway, you all inspire me more than I can say.  My Kindred Spirits.  Weaving the paths with all of you.  I count myself blessed.

Sending you all a great big hug filled with gratitude, admiration, kinship, love and peace.
